Interior Design Bedroom Creation … The Palm Room

Where does one begin when designing an island-inspired bedroom? For me, it always starts with an inspiration piece. But when it came time to plan the middle bedroom—also known as Brooke’s Room—I found myself completely stuck. This space needed to reflect Brooke, our daughter, and her simple, down-to-earth style. The colors had to stay calm and clean, and everything in the room needed to feel natural, easy, and effortless… just like her. I was thinking of a palm tree?

When we bought Casa de Vista, Brooke was in college in sunny Southern California. She was soaking up the laid-back, coastal vibe. And then it hit me—palm trees. Simple. Tall. Beautiful. Much like Brooke herself. That single image of a palm tree, fronds swaying in the breeze, became the inspiration for The Palm Room.

The colors for The Palm Room were inspired by the soft, fresh tones of a palm frond—a simple, light green that feels calm and airy—paired with crisp black-and-white accents that carry through from the bedroom into the bathroom. True to Brooke’s style, we kept the décor minimal, adding only a few thoughtfully chosen tchotchkes that fit the island vibe without cluttering the space. The result is a room filled with positive energy, where you can stretch out on the bed, imagine palm trees swaying outside the window, and let the gentle island sounds carry you away. Calm, clean, natural—just like the palm trees that inspired it.
